The Cometic MLS (Multi-Layer Steel) Head Gasket is engineered for high-output Nissan RB20 engines, providing a superior seal without the need for additional sealants. Constructed from multiple layers of embossed stainless steel, this gasket is designed to withstand the high cylinder pressures and shearing forces generated in performance applications, whether mating aluminum heads to aluminum or cast iron blocks. The stainless steel composition offers excellent rebound characteristics and inherent corrosion resistance.
For maximum thermal durability, the outer layers are coated on both sides with Viton, a fluoroelastomer rubber capable of withstanding temperatures up to 250°C (482°F). This specialized coating ensures a reliable seal across various surface finishes and load conditions. The 0.051-inch compressed thickness and 80mm bore help maintain uniform load distribution while reducing bore distortion under heavy clamping loads.
