The Eaton Detroit Truetrac (917A731) is a helical-gear style limited-slip differential designed to maximize wheel traction and improve handling characteristics on the street or track. Unlike traditional clutch-style units that eventually wear out and require rebuilding, the Truetrac uses a gear-based system that is entirely maintenance-free. This differential provides smooth, automatic operation in both forward and reverse, engaging instantly when a wheel loses grip to transfer torque to the high-traction wheel.
