The Koni Special Active rear shock absorber (MPN: 8245 1024) is engineered for BMW E46 owners who demand both sharp handling and daily-driver comfort. Featuring Koni’s patented Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) technology, this shock identifies the road frequency and automatically adjusts its damping force. It provides the stiffness required for flat cornering and body control while softening for high-frequency impacts like expansion joints and rough pavement.
Unlike adaptive suspensions that rely on complex electronics or sensors, the Special Active series uses a purely mechanical valving system, making it a reliable, bolt-on upgrade for the factory dampeners. This twin-tube shock is finished in Koni’s signature red and is designed to work seamlessly with both standard and sport-package springs.
