The stock intercooler on the MQB platform is sandwiched between the radiator and AC condenser, utilizing a tube-and-fin core with plastic end tanks that often struggle with heat soak under increased boost. The Mishimoto Performance Intercooler Kit replaces this with a robust bar-and-plate core, providing significantly better heat dissipation. By utilizing a core 89% larger in volume and increasing external fin surface area by 162%, this kit dropped outlet temperatures by 23°F during testing.

This kit includes 2.75-inch mandrel-bent aluminum intercooler piping and 5-layer silicone couplers, replacing the factory plastic components. The larger diameter piping provides a 30% increase in airflow over stock, resulting in dyno-proven gains of 14.5 whp and 13 wtq on a factory tune. The cast aluminum end tanks feature internal airflow diverters to ensure even distribution across the entire core for maximum efficiency.
