NGK Laser Iridium spark plugs are engineered for OE-specific applications to deliver the optimal balance of ignition performance and component longevity. Each plug features a fine-wire iridium-tipped center electrode, providing a high melting point and a material hardness six times greater than platinum for consistent spark and reduced electrode wear. The ground electrode typically utilizes a platinum pad to ensure even wear characteristics in high-demand ignition systems.
Built to withstand extreme combustion chamber conditions, these plugs utilize a high-grade alumina silicate ceramic insulator for superior dielectric strength and heat transfer. The 98 percent pure copper core facilitates efficient heat removal to prevent pre-ignition and fouling, while trivalent metal plating provides a sacrificial barrier against corrosion and moisture-induced seizing in the cylinder head.
